I called to University Malaya Medical Centre to check the appointment made for my mother two months ago, so that I won’t miss the date due to oblivion.

But, there was no one picking up the phone after several calls to the clinic. So, i decided to phone the operator. A female operator picked up phone and answer my call.

Me: Hello, operator UM Medical Centre ya?

Operator: Ya. May I help you?

Me: I have made an appointment with Memory Clinic for my family to see the doctor. I need to know what time should i reach the hospital. I hv made several calls to the clinic, but how come there is no one answer one?!

Operator: Oh! Sorry sir, may I know what is the age of the patient?

Me: 55 lah.

Operator: Oh, uncle, very sorry to you uncle. Our telephony system has some problem after a heavy rain yesterday. It should be an auto answering machine actually, uncle. But so sorry uncle, it’s not functioning today uncle.

Me: I AM NOT UNCLE!!! I AM THE PATIENT’S SON OK?!!!

Operator: Oh sorry. I manually connect you to the clinic ok?

The operator quickly and swiftly, without procrastination, immediately transfered my call to the clinic.
